The Centurions made another trip down to Hemel Hempstead to conclude their Spring League games facing old rivals the Leicester Blue Sox, and new team Herts Buzzards.
With fifteen players suited up, and three making their debuts, it was a day full of positives.
The first game saw Ross Barnes hit a no doubter over the right-centre fence, but the Centurions found it hard to get any further offense going and fell to a 10-1 reverse behind pitchers Louis Bojko and Yulyn Helm.
Jimmy Wilkins showed that he can hit triples in any shirt as he did the same helping out for Leicester. Dan Zake and Micky Robson both making their debut's both put in accomplished performances in the field and looked perfectly at home at the plate.
Game two was a tighter affair, and continuing the theme from Game One, Ian Hitchcock made his first start at third base and looked like a veteran. The Centurions were up 15-7, but couldn’t bring home the win as the Buzzards walked it off 16-15. Pitching for the Centurions were Jack Betts, Jake Clarke and Ross Barnes.
Thoughts now turn to opening day at home to Cambridge Royals, and manager Jack Betts will have plenty of options across the lineup and some tough decisions to make. This will be in contrast to some previous years where numbers have not been so strong.
