Northants finally crowned the EEBL League Champions 2024 after a stunning 13-5 win over the Cambridge Royals

Going into the game day, Northants only needed one win out of two games to take the league title.

Northants got off to a stellar start by putting 4 runs on the board in the first inning and holding Cambridge to 1.

Northants continued their strong hitting with accompanied errorless defence by putting up a 3 run inning in the second and shutting out Cambridge.

By the end of the 3rd inning, Northants had an 8-3 lead and the confidence was growing, which was only bolstered when they smashed in a 5 run (maximum number of runs that can be scored in an inning) inning in the 4th meaning Northants had a comfortable 9 run lead!

Cambridge scored one more making it 13-5 before Ross Barnes caught the final out in the form of an infield fly ball :

They'd done it! for the first time in 8 years, Northnats Baseball club had won the league.

The mound was stormed, all players and supporters were in the infield jumping and celebrating briefly on the mound before departing the field to celebrate further with a Champagne Shower (Check out the Video HERE)

Manager Jack Betts was voted the games MVP by the opposition team

Northants ended the season having played 24 games and loosing just 5 of those. They now qualify for the Post season Championship where they will play knockout games against the winners of the other leagues including team such as The Cornish Claycutters, London Mets, MK Bucks, Herts Ravens.

Their first quarter final game will be at Herts Baseball club on September 7th
