It was another tense weekend as Northants took on bottom of the league team, The Cambridge Monarchs, while their rivals at the top took on Harwich Town.
Both teams came away with two wins but Northants decided to do it the hard way.
After a fairly comfortable win In the first game, scores ending Northants 11 - Cambridge Monarchs 3, in game two, Northants quickly went behind 7-3 by the end of the second inning. The scores stayed that way until the 5th inning where Northants battled back to tie the game. In extra innings, Northants dominated with the game ending with a 14-11 win.
The Royals were also behind for alot of their game against second from bottom Harwich giving northants some hope they may take sole lead spot for the first time this season, but the Royals picked up the pace in the last inning eventually winning by 2 runs.
James Thorne was voted MVP for Northants following his debut as starting pitcher in Game 2
2 wins for each team mean they are still tied at the top and with only 8 games of the season left, its now impossible for 3rd place team Norwich to win the league
The rest of the season is also equally matched for both team at the top as both northants and cambridge play each other twice, and Norwich twice.
Should the league end in a tie at the top, the league will be decided by runs conceded against the two tied team. So far, The royals have conceded less runs against Northants.
